It felt good to walk in the garden today. We're supposed to be giving Rudy a little sunshine everyday to prevent jaundice, and today is the first time I've had enough strength to walk outside in the heat for a bit. The plants in our garden have grown so large!
We put Rudy's red white and blue socks on. (Happy Fourth, y'all!) Our little town of Sewanee has a huge Fourth of July celebration every year, with a long parade and all sorts of activities throughout the day, ending in fireworks over a lake. It felt strange spending today indoors with so many celebrations happening just down the road, but I'm still in recovery mode, not supposed to be moving around much. It's been eight days since I gave birth to Rudy.
I'd like to write more about the birth experience soon. It was transformative in every sense of the word, and the midwives on The Farm who helped us were incredible. Maybe later this week.
Wishing you a happy Fourth, from the three of us.
