I have so many photographs of interesting places (especially from the year I spent traveling around the world studying clouds), I thought I'd try and start sharing more of them. A Friday photograph. Here's the first. I took this one when I was learning how to glide in Australia (don't worry, I was in the passenger seat here!). There aren't a lot of feelings that rival that -- being 3,000 feet above the earth and turning the engine off, feeling the bump of a thermal beneath your wing and turning into it, and rising, slowly, in circles, letting the air lift you up and up. And when it runs out, hunting for that invisible column that will keep you aloft.
